First Solid Food (Aug. 19)

Caleigh was a pro at eating with a spoon. She may look a little
"concerned", but she was just taking the new adventure seriously. She "helped" Mama hold the spoon and opened her mouth REALLY wide to take the yummy morsels of rice cereal. And then smack smack smack went her little lips. So trusting that what we're putting in her mouth is good for her little body. She's an even bigger girl now!

If you don't take me for a walk, I'll lick my knight

Caleigh and Mama were on their way out the door for a walk when the phone rang. Saucer to the rescue! Caleigh, of course, got many compliments from admirers during our walk. She mostly stares "hard" at strangers, but will sometimes give them a smile.

Oh, the other day Caleigh was sitting in the clothsbasket (just seemed like the thing to do) and nearly pulled herself up from sitting to standing! This all could happen very quickly for us....

Another trip to the garden yields.......

Yummy!

Please mama, I wasn't finished with that yet!

Sitting up -- mostly

Hey, what's over there?

And here's a kiss for mama...

Watch out...she's listing left!

Sleeping soundly

The room was very dark so it was a challenge for Mama and Daddy to get a good picture of my interesting pose. But they managed to without waking me - good job! I really like to roll around and turn this way and that in my crib at night. I'm quite sad that I am too long to lay sideways and stretch out my legs...but I'll adapt. You'll notice, here, that I can't quite stretch out my legs because I'm up against the footboard. However, it works just fine to prop up my leg on the bumper!

Watching the rain

Look at my strong arms! I can get everything but my tummy off the ground. But I'm working on it! I like our newly cleaned up sun porch for rolling around on my blanket and looking out the windows. Sometimes the great outdoors is much more interesting than my toys. See our little tomatoes outside the screen?!

Fresh from our garden

Yesterday morning, Mama and I headed out to the garden to gather up the ripe veggies. Yummy! My mouth is watering...
Now if they would only let me have just a little bite.... maybe next year's garden?!

Correction: Caleigh has BOTH bottom front teeth coming in together. No wonder our happy baby girl has been a bit prickly the past couple evenings. ;-)

Who does this remind you of?

Mama remembers when my Uncle Logan was a baby and would make this face a lot. His smile for awhile there was the crinkled up nose. I haven't mastered it yet, but I'm working on it. I don't mind taking after him one bit ('cause he's pretty cool!).

First tooth!

A little bottom right tooth broke through last night. Razor sharp to the touch and Caleigh was none too happy about it. No picture of the tooth yet. This picture demonstrates what Caleigh does with her mouth during my attempts to look at her tooth (and get a picture). ;-)

A touch of stubborness already? [perhaps it is in her blood...]

In the pool!

Mama and I had a great time floating around in the pool today. This was my third time in the water, but first time with the really cool pink dolphin float (thanks, Maggie). It was very relaxing for me...legs floating behind me, arms streched out, and resting my cheeks on the dolphin. I even have a personal 'tail shade' to keep the rays off my head! I may not look really happy, but I don't fuss at the pool. Just chillin' dude.

By the way -- unofficial measurement on my 5 month birthday was 26". I'm getting so big!

I went from swimming pool to bath

What an adventure! This was my first bath in the 'big kids tub' as Mama took the bassinet feature out of my bathtub today. To celebrate, she let me play with a ducky for the first time. She was yummy (as was the washcloth....)!

5 Months Old Today!

What a great day. Mama and I played and played, then Daddy came home and we went out to eat and to a store. So many people look at me and smile, and usually say something about how pretty/sweet/loved I am. I like getting out of the house and enjoying all this attention!

Is this blanket growing with me!? I'm still only 4 squares tall...but no worries - life is good!

Daddy and Me

Daddy makes me laugh. He tickles me and makes lots of funny faces.

See how strong my trunk is getting (I'm leaning way forward in the first picture)?

Gotta protect my head from the sun

Mama, Daddy and I had a fun time in Rittenhouse Square after church last Sunday. We sat on a big blanket, played with my toys and enjoyed the cooler breezes. I think my head is getting a little too big for this hat...;-)

Mama and Me

We had so much fun in the park! A yummy lunch was had by all.
Look at my arms GO! I love to shake and whirl them about.

Please don't make me go to bed!

I really like my swing, but it's tiring chewing on my star. So I thought I'd just take a little nap. Usually when I fall asleep in the swing Mama or Daddy move me to a bed. Not this time!

Sitting up

Mama is just out of the picture. I'm really not sitting up on my own quite yet. I can lean forward and get back to sitting upright okay (usually), but I tend to easily list left or right. I'm sure I'll catch on soon!

I love my bear blanket

Thanks Grandma! I like snuggling up with my blanket and drifting off to sleep. It's so soft and silky.

Just laying around reading a bit

Mama and I like to read every day. I think books are great (and yummy)! This one is about the zoo.

Swimming!

Mama and Daddy got me this nifty swimsuit for my pool days. Mama and I have a great time in the water! I'm not scared or anything (kind of looks like a big bathtub...). We spin and float and jump around. I like watching the other kids play around me, too.

Bless you!

Daddy caught our little sunshine sneezing! For those in the know, she seems to have inherited here Grandma's and Mama's sneeze strength (but it's MUCH cuter coming from her). ;-)

Some saucer time....some ring time

Life is good and full! She laughs and laughs in the saucer, especially when we applaud her efforts at spinning the wheel, playing a tune, or eating the turtle. We LOVE her huge grin!

Caleigh put the rings on her arm and foot. She seems to enjoy taking them off the holder and munching on them. She's a bit more "serious" about this toy.

Saucer time

Caleigh makes the most of her time in the saucer. And she cracks us up!

First time napping on tummy

Caleigh usually just rolls onto her side and snoozes, but Mama caught her turned all the way over on July 29. She slept well and long! [That's her trusty gown she's curled up with. Good use for a too small outfit.]

Now when she wakes up from nap or from overnight, she'll almost immediately turn over on her tummy and raise herself up on her arms (then whimper to be picked up). The middle hasn't gotten off the ground yet but we assume when it does....watch out!

Oma is back!

Oma visited for two nights and brought me really cool gifts from China and lovely things she handmade. I'll probably be the only kid in nursery with "Ying Zhigu" shoes! ;-)

We'll see her again in a few weeks in Michigan! Mama and Daddy say we're driving there and back....okay. Don't they know I'm just a baby?!

Posing in her sleep

...or mocking The Thinker?

Just chillin'

We think she looks like a little flower in that ruffled neck! She just kicked back when sat in the crib -- Miss Cool.

Caleigh now goes "crazy happy" when seeing that baby (herself) -- online, in a frame, in the mirror...clapping her hands together and to her mouth, kicking her feet & making ohh ohh sounds.

You just gotta wonder.....

What is going through her mind? ;-)

Mama spiked her hair after a bath (but there's just not much there to work with!). She likes playing with the ring toy from Grandma (which both Mama and Uncle Logan also played with). That's good hearty construction for you!

I wonder if she is saying "TA DA!"
