Ferrystone Lake State Park
Grandma, Mama, Caleigh and Zachary spent the afternoon at Ferrystone Lake enjoying the sand, water and playground area on a wonderfully sunny but not too hot day. It was nice to play in the sand under a shady tree! Caleigh just waded in at first but soon had her floaty on and was trying to swim with the fish. Zach spent at least 1/2 hour on the turtle squirting water everywhere (on him, grandma, passers-by) and having a blast. He didn't quite get his swim trunks and swimmie diaper on so made a splash with his (very large) diaper and jean shorts. ;-)
Zach hasn't been our swim baby so far. But here in a lake with lots of minnows and 4 inch fish he decides to wade up to his neck (!) in the water and didn't want to come out. Caleigh loved the slide she could get up & down by herself into the water (over and over and...). Zach acted like he wanted to swim, sticking his leg up and moving his arms around. He was kind of hard to hold onto. Too bad we didn't have him a floaty! But he's NEVER like the water this much. He didn't seem to mind, though (but our backs did from bending over to help him walk through the water). He would answer the 'how far did you get into the water' question by smiling and putting his hand on his neck. ;-) He also wanted to stick his face into the water, but wouldn't keep his mouth shut (too busy laughing). Mama found out that blowing in his face just made him blow in mine (a trick for having much younger babies hold their breaths...we laughed about that awhile). We attempted to get him to stop 'drinking the lake' water, but he was pretty determined and the water was just right there under his chin.
We closed the place down at 6 PM after playing on the playground equipment for 20 minutes or so. We were all hungry and ate out before heading home for a bath and a nice, restful night's sleep. Wish I'd gotten a picture of Zach wading or Caleigh on the slide, but I was too busy having fun in the water with them!
