Allentown County Fair
What a glorious day! As compared to last year when Lori was 8 months pregnant and the temps were 90+, this year was just beautiful with temps around 80. There was a bit of a breeze (end of the hurricane winds) The kids had a great day and it was relaxing for the parents, too.
Highlights: pig and cow auction; antique tractors; petting cows, sheep, rabbits and goats; seeing and hearing a rooster crow at point blank range; pig races (Caleigh and Zach were sure they could race ON the pigs ;-); big cat show; marionette show; rows of pretty home-canned goods; 1000+ lb pumpkin; snacks and drinks from the double stroller; and kids eat free at Applebee's after the fair (whew hew!).
The kids impressed our close bleacher neighbors, waiting patiently for 20 minutes for the big cat show to start, and all the while munching happily on a large tupperware of cantaloupe. Dan and Caroline were filthy between her eating melon and pretzels, but she was quite content.
And about those free kids meals. Well, chocolate milk affects Zach differently than Caleigh, it seems. While Caleigh zonked out back in the car (at 9 p.m.), Zach chattered, told jokes, asked questions and sang songs the entire way back. He was still going when we got home after 10 p.m. but quietly fell asleep since Caleigh was already snoring in the her bed.
