The first Thanksgiving

...for Lori away from Floyd family - EVER. But being 38 weeks pregnant dampens even the most mundane travel plans...much less a one-way 8+ hour drive. So, we were pleased to host Jan (Dan's Mom) and Jochen for the weekend. Dan was responsible for the turkey -- he decided to grill it! Jan (with minimal help) prepared the rest of the feast. Yummy! The turkey turned out moist and delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves, including our neighbor, Rhonda, who joined us for lunch and part of the afternoon.

Dan got up early to start the grill and put on the bird. A beautiful day for grilling -- almost 70 degrees! Caleigh, Jan and Jochen went for a nice walk while Lori and Dan finished cosmetic preparations. Mama and Caleigh talked via speaker phone to the Floyd family, gathered at Aunt Judy's. Not the same at all but a good way to remind each other that we're all still a part of the same family and love one another, even with many miles separating us this holiday.
